Episode Transcription

Chelsea Brown: Hi. I'm Chelsea Brown, creator of Millie Travels and host of The Millie Podcast. From growing up and watching my mother travel the world for work, to visiting the Gaza refugee camp in Jordan, and connecting virtually with women during COVID-19, all of these experiences have empowered me to broaden my perspective and connect with women globally who are making a difference in their communities.

Elena Christopoulos: It is so important to learn from people with different backgrounds.

Natasha Slater: I wanted to experience things, and I wasn't afraid.

Noora Sharrab: For me, it's always like, "What impact do I want to make? What's the purpose of this?"

Chelsea Brown: It's what's inspired Millie Travels, and it's what's inspiring this podcast.

Debi Brown: The passion and commitment to living your life in a certain way... it's very rewarding.

Elena Christopoulos: It's exactly the reason I became a commissioner was to make Santa Monica a safer place for women and girls. It's everything to do with being a sexual assault survivor.

Natasha Slater: From the age of 15, I think that's where my rebellious side really came. I mean, I was in boarding school and I was running away at weekends to go up to London to raves. I started taking drugs early, I was experimenting, I just wanted to live life on the edge.

Chelsea Brown: Telling your story and owning your story is powerful. The women you'll meet in this Millie Podcast empower us to rip up the script and write our own story.

Lina Khalifeh: I can create my own system in martial arts. Something just for women.

Jacqueline Sofia: It's like falling in love, you know? It's like, you can't help who you love.

Lina Khalifeh: Nobody has a perfect life. You have problems - it's okay to lean on other people, it's okay to fall, and it's okay to rise again.

Elena Christopoulos: I wanted a career in science, I wanted a career in politics.

Debi Brown: Enjoy what you are doing every day and try and give back. You actually will wake up one day and realize that you've achieved the success that you aspired to.

Chelsea Brown: These are all very different women from all corners of the globe, but they have one message: there is no roadblock.

Jacqueline Sofia: I have a mantra I can't live without. Always have some dark chocolate in the fridge.

Chelsea Brown: Tune in to The Millie Podcast and see the world in a different way.

Debi Brown: There is something that will give you reason to question yourself.
